Day in the Life of a Conveyancing Assistant

Behind every superstar Conveyancer … is a rockstar Conveyancing Assistant!

Our Conveyancing Assistants greet clients, answer and direct phone calls, order property searches and undertake data entry, sort and distribute mail, and provide administrative assistance to our Conveyancers. There’s always plenty to do!

Attention to detail, strong organisational and time management skills, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team are the keys to success as a Conveyancing Assistant.

We asked Silje, one of our Tuckfields Conveyancing Assistants, what she loves most about her role.
This is what she had to say:

“The absolute best part about my job is being able to congratulate clients when their settlements go through. They are always so happy, and I really love being part of that special moment for them.

In my role I’m responsible for lots of different things, so no two days are ever the same.

When clients come in for their appointments, I take them through to the boardroom for their meeting.

I also make trips to the bank and to Land Services SA, which used to be called the Lands Titles office. Now that settlements are done electronically I don’t have to attend as often, but I have learned so much about lodgements and settlements by seeing how the process works at Land Services SA, and it really breaks up the day being able to step out of the office.

I’m always learning something in my role and facing new challenges. I’m good at problem-solving and I also get to use my prioritisation and time management skills, because I have to multi-task a lot!

The team here at Tuckfields is close, and we communicate well so coming to work is so enjoyable.

I spend a lot of my time assisting the Conveyancers with smaller tasks, which frees them up to focus on the bigger things. They’re always very supportive and I feel genuinely appreciated in my role.

There are definitely times when the job is challenging, but we all work together to meet deadlines and make sure everything gets done, and we celebrate our successes as a team too.”
