When can I get my keys?
Buying a property is one of the biggest investments you’ll ever make.
When can I get my keys? is a common question for new homeowners. It can be a stressful process of “waiting, waiting, sign a few papers, wait a bit more, speak to a few professionals, then go back and wait a bit more”. All of this waiting can be tiring and frustrating, especially as all you want to do is to get into your new house!
It is so much more than just a financial and legal transaction to you … it is the place where you will call home. The location where you will make memories, maybe even start a family. It is the place where you will return to at the end of a long, tiring day, and shake off the stress of the world as you walk through the door, your door, the gateway to your beautiful new abode.
We understand how important getting your hands on those keys are.
I know that you are aware that there is a “process” of some sort, because undoubtedly one of our Conveyancers would have filled you in on what we do, but if you are anything like I was when I bought my first home, all you really care about is getting your hands on those keys. Those shiny, metal, shapely little devices that open up a whole new world for you…the world of home ownership.
Now I also know that there are home buyers out there who love the details. They want to understand the process, so I will quickly give that here (for the rest of you who just want to skip to the good bit, *spoiler alert*, read on after the bullet points)
- On settlement day, your conveyancer will meet with your lender (bank or financial institution) and representatives of the seller’s (vendors) to exchange the required legal documents, settle the financial details, and ensure that all of the terms in the Contract are finalised. (This is really important, as you want peace of mind that that the property is cleared of all of the Vendor’s details and financial commitments!)
- Once settlement has been finalised, we will contact yourself and the agent responsible for selling the property immediately. As your conveyancer, we love to call you personally to let you know the exciting news!
So here is the exciting bit! The answer to your question! The moment you’ve been waiting for…
You’ve had the phone call! You can now collect your keys! Congratulations, it’s finally yours!
And all of us here at Tuckfield Conveyancing couldn’t be happier for you and I will tell you a little secret … we all get just as excited as you do when your home has finally settled because we understand the significance of owning your own home.
If at any time during the wait to get your keys you have questions or concerns, please, call us, as we are committed to making the process as smooth and as enjoyable as possible for you.
